There is a difference between hunting and killing.

And don't you DARE say Chuck Norris, because this is very serious.

Killing is going out and murdering something. You don't have to start out with that intent, but it's something that happens in cold-blood. You may have it already set up - the animal or person bound, unable to escape. You slit their throat, or place a bullet through their head. You become an assasin, bent on one thing alone - death yto whoever is at your mercy, completely helpless.
That's killing.

Hunting, on the other hand, is a sport. Nothing is prearranged, nothing at all. You go out there to have fun, to be one with nature, to complete the circle of life. Always, always, thank the animal that you kill, for it's life and the meat it will provide your family with. It's a kill or be killed world, and you do what you need to in order to survve. This is a cycle that happen naturally. There is no disrespect, and you do whatever possible to relieve the animal of any suffering that you brought upon it. You want a good, clean kill, no excessive pain to the animal.

People don't say that fishing is killing. Why isn't it? Sure, we keep the fish, my father fillets them, and my mother eats them. Yet, why do so many people refuse to hunt but avidly fish? It's techinically worse than hunting, seeing as you have the creature at your mercy. You bait it. And then you kill it by depriving it of oxygen.

I'm a hunter - I hunt whitetail deer. And it hurts to know that people see us as murderers. Do we go out in the forest and shoot everything that moves. That's not what hunting is about. Hunting is about finding your place in nature, and revelling in its beauty, while doing what you have to in order to provide for your family.
